The Last Tree of Rapa Nui
Music and Lyrics by Olaf Pyttlik, Book by Vern Thiessen
Running Time: 60 minutes
What ultimately happened a long time ago at Rapa Nui (Easter Island) has a relevant message for us all. The Last Tree of Rapa Nui is both an environmental musical and an inspiring story. Who built the statues that dot this island, and what happened to the trees? In this play we learn of the fascinating rhythms, traditions and lore of Rapa Nui through the eyes of Ana and Benzi, children of the island's elders. Written by Governor General Literary Award-winner Vern Thiessen and scored by SOCAN award-winner Olaf Pytllik, The Last Tree of Rapa Nui invites us to experience a powerful ecological message through uplifting songs and an engaging narrative.
