The following courses require prospective students to audition. Register and pay for courses when you book an audition time - if you are not invited into the company you want, your payment will go towards your next choice. The commitment level for these courses is high - students are expected to miss no more than two prearranged rehearsals a year.
The Junior Company
9 - 12 years
Following the recent hit presentation of Much Ado About Nothing for Kids, The Junior Company remains an exciting onstage opportunity for the dedicated student.
This year The Junior Company will perform The Snow Queen, adapted from the story by Hans Christian Andersen and directed by Rebecca Brask.
Always a smashing success, The Junior Company guides young actors through an intensive rehearsal process that culminates in a public performance. Script analysis, voice training, and movement for the stage are part of this intensive project, designed for young people who enjoy performing.
Please prepare a one-minute monologue for your audition.

The House at Pooh Corner Chorus
THIS SEASON ONLY!
9 - 14 years
Here's a unique chance for MTYP students to perform in the professional Mainstage production of The House at Pooh Corner! Chorus members will meet weekly to rehearse songs written by Cathy Nosaty for The House at Pooh Corner, and will perform on the Mainstage December 7 - 20, as part of MTYP's professional season.
This opportunity will require missing some school for weekday performances. Students will receive such perks as complimentary tickets to dress rehearsal, and a family invitation to the closing or opening night party.
A great value and an unbeatable chance to learn and perform! Please be prepared to sing a song a capella at your audition.
Students auditioning for The House at Pooh Corner must also be registered in another Fall Session class.

The Musical Theatre Company
11 - 19 years
Last year's smash hit The Pirates of Penzance is a hard act to follow, but MTYP's Musical Theatre Company is back and ready for another fantastic year, under the direction of Cheyenne Schroeder.
Advanced training in acting, singing, and dancing combined with an intense rehearsal process and a public performance of a full-length musical make this an experience not to be missed.
Please be prepared to sing a song a capella at your audition.

The Improv Team
13 years & up
Advanced improvisation training, performance opportunities, and participation in the Manitoba Improv League make this a demanding training ground and performance-based experience for advanced improvisers.
Completing Teen Improv Comedy before auditioning for this course is recommended.

The Company
13 years & up
MTYP's teens have astounded local audiences with their productions of classic and contemporary plays. Under the direction of Carolyn Gray, The Company will offer students a unique opportunity to grow as artists in a pre-professional environment. THis rehearsal-based learning process demands time, energy and commitment, but promises to give you the time of your life in return. Students will be asked to miss up to a week of school for performance opportunities.
Please prepare a contemporary or classical monologue for your audition (1-2 minutes).

The Summer Studio
13 years & up
Members of The Summer Studio will mount a production at MTYP for the Winnipeg Fringe Festival in July 2012.
Rehearsal and performance are an important facet of this company experience, but participants will also be involved in every aspect of production, from desigining and building props and costumes, to budgeting and marketing their play to a potential audience.
A fantastic learning opportunity for anyone curious about making a living in the arts!
