Butterflies October 14 - 24, 2010 Ages 3 - 12
Butterflies takes audiences on a magnificent journey through a literal and symbolic story of a butterfly's life. Imagine being inside a butterfly's world. Sun shines on your face, you hear the wings beat - in fact you experience the entire cycle of metamorphosis. Two actors and dancers inside a virtual landscape interact with spectators, and even bigger thrills come when young ones from the audience are invited to touch and explore the glowing interactive garden themselves.
Jason and the Argonauts November 18 - 28, 2010 Ages 8+
Two actors, 65 minutes, one golden fleece. Visible Fictions' hugely physical and irreverent telling of the ancient Greek myth plays with scale, action figures and a stage wagon that turns into a three-sail ship - among other things. From the creators of Cyrano and The Red Balloon, Jason and the Argonauts is a great adventure story with monsters, romance, destiny, heroism and revenge.
Wired January 20 - 27, 2011 All Ages
Shy and awkward among his peers, Damien is transformed into a cooler version of himself though online role-playing games, social networking sites and a multitude of virtual friends. But when Damien finds himself in the crosshairs of a cyber-bullying campaign, he soon comes to see the downside of his wired-in world. Green Thumb Theatre examines the online alternate world where young people go to escape, which in turn becomes the reality many school-kids must now escape from.
Baobab February 6 - 13, 2011 Ages 3 - 12
Under a blazing West African sun, a little boy emerges from an egg. With their village plagued by drought the people soon discover that this little boy is the only one who can unlock the water source. Blending African and Quebecois music and storytelling traditions with puppetry, live percussion, song and captivating shadow theatre, Baobab imparts a gentle message about the importance of passing down values and traditions from one generation to the next.
The Man Who Planted Trees March 10 - 18, 2011 Ages 8+
A French shepherd sets out with his dog to planet a forest and transform a barren wasteland. As War rages across Europe, their young forest comes under threat... A unique blend of comedy, puppetry and inspiring storytelling, with sensory effects creating scents, wind and rain. An inspiring and unforgettable story that shows us the difference one man (and his dog!) can make.

Circus INcognitus March 27 - April 8, 2011 All Ages
"Genius" said the New York Times, and our audiences agreed. Jamie Adkins brought the house down at MTYP with his astonishing dexterity and side-splitting stunts in Typo. As brilliant as his last show, Jamie's new show won't just dazzle you, it will melt your heart. Circus Incognitus is about having the courage to try new ideas, pushing them to their limits and not giving up when all goes wrong.
Notice To Parents of Infants and Toddlers:
MTYP productions are open only to children who are 3 years of age or older. Children younger than this are not permitted in the theatre because:
• They may become frightened or disruptive, which is unfair to others who are looking forward to being immersed in the theatrical experience.
• We are careful to tailor our productions to children in a selected age range. Children younger than three years require specifically designed theatrical productions which match their development. We encourage you to bring your children back when they can benefit most from the MTYP experience. |
