Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Box Office Manager serves as the first point of contact for all persons arriving at MTYP, as well as answering and/or re-directing all telephone calls to the Box Office and switchboard. This position is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of ticket and subscription sales for MTYP’s public mainstage series of plays, public performances of theatre school productions and third-party rentals, including in-person, telephone and online sales.
The Box Office Manager is also actively involved in assisting with sales initiatives concerning single and group public sales and theatre school program sales. As well, the Box Office Manager answers in-person and general telephone inquiries, directing all individuals entering the facility to their appropriate destination.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
Responsibilities include:
· Responding courteously and promptly to customer inquiries and concerns in person and on the phone;
· Using and maintaining Theatre Manager (the ticketing software), processing ticket and subscription orders, exchanging tickets for subscribers, allocating seating and reconciling ticket sales at the end of each performance;
· Hiring, training, supervising and scheduling all Box Office personnel
· Ensuring that box office sales are reconciled at the end of each week and each production and that all cash, cheques and credit card receipts are deposited to the Finance department;
· Ensuring that all credit card purchases are authorized;
· Assisting patrons in selecting appropriate plays and/or Theatre School classes for their children;
· Processing Theatre School applications;
· Greeting and providing assistance to the general public;
· Participating in all Box Office Telemarketing Campaigns
· Maintaining and analyzing statistical information on ticket and subscription sales
· Assisting in strategizing and implementing group sales
· Providing administrative support to other staff as required
Qualifications & Experience:
· 2-3 years customer service experience
· Supervisory experience
· Mature and responsible
· Excellent verbal communication skills
· Highly organized and efficient
· Computer skills (Word, Excel)
· Knowledge of an/or interest in theatre preferred
