Buru

Marrugekku, Broome (Western Australia)

Our guests come from down under, and we are among the first to invite Buru to North America! Things are different in Broome Town, Western Australia. The people of this land count six seasons instead of four and have a rich culture unlike any other. Buru is both a re-telling and a re-invention of those stories, with ten talented young performers collaborating over three years. They have reflected on the tradtional legends of their people, the Yawuru, and expressed them by combining elements of physical theatre, stilt-dancing, Yawuru language and song and even a bit of rap! Full of visually stunning set pieces, Buru is a performance like no other. You wouldn't want to miss six seasons, two boss lizards and nine fish on stilts would you?
