Moving Gallery

The Moving Gallery: Beyond Survival

This piece of visual poetry is a brand new interpretation of a work previously created. "The Moving Gallery: Beyond Survival" looks to discuss the topic of residential schools from the point of impact, rather than it's place of creation. By looking through the eyes of the youth, who themselves never attended residential schools, a viewpoint based in reality and stemming from current affairs can be developed and explored. By examining the residential school system as a not an indigenous problem, but instead a shared Canadian wound.

By combining visual poetry, poignant media, compelling movement and intricate text, Director Phillip Duncan opens this very emotionally charged issue to a broad audience whom through this visceral experience will enjoy pain, pleasure and beauty while exploring what has so long been taboo.

With support from Artistic Director Columpa Bobb, Associate Directors Ryan Black and Tracey Nepinak, and writer Lee Maracle beautiful visuals and eloquent text flow seamlessly and beautifully.
